It had previously been announced that PCB will now only pay players in rupees.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchisees have agreed to pay foreign players participating in the 5th edition of the Pakistan supr league.
At a meeting on Monday, franchisees raised concerns about paying foreign players in U.S. dollars.
The meeting between the Chairman PCB, Ehsan Mani, and the owners of PSL franchises was based mainly on listening to the concerns of the owners and on the conclusion of mutually agreements.
A source conversant in the matter said that "franchisees believe paying foreign players in US dollars would place an important financial burden on them."
A fixed exchange rate was also discussed at the meeting, which could save franchisees a lot of money. As the tournament takes place in Pakistan, franchisees pay PCB not only in US dollars but also in PKR.
The source added that PCB would form a committee to further investigate the concerns of each franchise. The committee is made up of representatives from PCB and a representative from each franchised company.
Indefinite rights
Franchisees also discussed the possibility of having undefined rights over their respective teams. Under the current agreement, franchises have a 10-year contract and a new tendering process determines the next owner of each franchise.
The current franchisees have argued that all their hard work would be in vain if their offers failed and if the contracts were not renewed.
In response, PCB confirmed its concerns and stated that it would receive legal support to find a viable solution.
